About Your Silk
The silk used for Sarah's Silks is Habotai, also known as Mulberry Silk. It is considered the highest quality silk you can find. 100% pure Habotai silk is fine, light and airy. Natural imperfections in the weave, help prove the silks authenticity.
Sarah's Silk Play Silks have a weight of 5 momme, which lets them flow and produces a light airy movement when used in play.
The illustrated playsilks, dressups and toys use a heavier weight silk - 8 mommes, for extra durability.
Did you know? Mulberry silk contains Sericin and Fibroin - natural proteins produced by the silk worm. These proteins are what makes silk hypo-allergenic, resistance to dust mites, anti-inflammatory, non-irritating and anti-bacterial.
Playsilk Wash & Care Instructions
Silk is a natural and delicate fabric. It is naturally resistant to dirt and odours, and it's natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties mean it doe not need to be washed too regularly.
If you do need to wash your Sarah's Silk, we recommend handwashing with a mild detergent designed for silk - or just use cool water.
Drip dry and be aware that silk looses strength when wet, so dry carefully and do not wring, spin, or agitate. Wet silk is only 80% as strong as dry silk!
